Post Katrina your company installed windows and made other home improvements. I informed them that I would call when I was ready for the work to begin. Prior to me calling, I received a call from your production manager informing me he would be in charge of servicing the improvements, gave me his cell number and told me to just call when I was ready for the work to begin. At that time I informed him that I noticed a small crack in a window that was installed pre-Katrina. We discussed a date and time he could take a look at the window and he did.

The Production manager has given me excellent customer service. The very first time he called he was very pleasant and professional. He continued to keep me informed regarding the progress of the improvements which did not take long at all. I called him when it was completed and informed him of a couple of things that I was dissatisfied with and he came over the next day. He was very apologetic and courteous as always. The work was completed in a couple of days and I am extremely satisfied.

Regarding the window with the crack that needed to be replaced, he had periodically called me just to tell me he has not forgotten about me and would notify me as soon as the window came in (the first replacement did not fit). On yesterday, I received a call from him informing me the window was in and someone would be here today to install it. His pleasant, professional and upbeat voice was unchanged.

In times like these it is impossible to find a contractor or worker like this! I continue to refer lots of people to your company because of the type of customer service I have received from your company.”

Charles & Barbara Reynolds of New Orleans, 5/09: “Several years ago, we had windows replaced in our home by a lesser known company. In removing the existing windows, the bathroom tiles were damaged and repaired unprofessionally.

Your salesman came into our home to show us the type of windows your company was using. In doing so, he made us aware of the fact that the previous company could have offered to put five double sliders instead of ten single windows, thereby saving us money. Clearly, they were concerned about only making a profit.

Recently, your company installed 11 (rather than 19) energy efficient windows, the U-2000, in our home. We are happy to say that we were very pleased with the finished job. The windows really added to the houses curb appeal. Because they are energy efficient windows, this qualifies us to receive a tax credit.

As promised, the job was completed in one day. Even though it rained a little, this did not deter the installers from finishing the work.

The installers were friendly. More importantly, they were competent and professional. Our draperies were taken down and replaced with great care and all the glass pieces were swept and vacuumed away. There was no debris left on the premise, inside or out.

As he said he would, the salesman came back after the windows were installed. He checked each and every window to make sure everything was done correctly and to our satisfaction.

We have no complaints and look forward to seeing lower electric bills.”

Please give my personal “thank you” to your Mr. William Hale. Without his personal presentation and convincing explanation to the Association unit owners at our January annual meeting this feat would not have come to pass. It would have been put on hold as in the past years. For 14 years the writer has been advising owners that we have been wasting our funds endeavoring to correct and keep ahead of the shoddy workmanship of the original builders. The type of siding initially installed was impervious to moisture, creating water damage to internal wood framing as well as unwanted termite damage in some portions of our buildings which had went undetected.”

The decision my husband and I made to install new gutters, soffit, fascia board and a patio cover on our home was not an overnight one.

When the work began shortly thereafter what a pleasant surprise to find that our initial meeting was just the beginning of the enjoyment and professionalism we would have dealing with your company.

Three different crews were assigned to our job. One for the gutters, a second for the soffit and fascia, and the third for the patio cover. Each of these crews arrived timely, were neat, respectful, and professional. They performed the work in a timely manner and as agreed. They worked speedily and each finished up their jobs in no time.

Each crew paid attention to the small details such as surveying the property after for any nails that may have fallen and been hidden in the grass. They all insured that any debris was cleaned up and the work site left in a neat, orderly status. The job was completed timely and the end result was more beautiful than we imagined.

The service after the sale continued when we received the warranty forms from your office with literally step by step instructions spelled out for us, copies made, pre-addressed envelopes provided, and even a “sign by the x”. It couldn’t have been any simpler.

I got prices from L&E, Bernard and Capital. L&E and Bernard sent men out and said job would be hard and take 2 or 3 days. They sent men out to measure and look and each raised their prices.

Your sales representative took measurements and showed me samples. He showed me how they worked and why his product was the best. He was friendly and reached a price near other two. I thought he knew his product best and signed an agreement.

Later he sent out Joey and he said job would not be easy but could take 2 days. 

On January 13th, crew came out and started job. They worked as a team, each did his job and finished job about 4 or 5 hours. Job looks great, showed me how to operate windows, cleaned up nicely, they talked to me into trying to do my last 5 windows. I let them take measurements and said I might. He took measurements and gave me a close price. I may decide in next two days to go ahead and finish. 

I have been in business for my self last 50 years. I know how hard it is to get good men who know their job. I would give you sales representatives a very high A plus. I will tell others where to get good job.”

To me, a gutter was just a gutter-seen one, seen ‘em all - - and so at first I was snickering to myself about how seriously your sales rep. was taking gutters because of all the information he was sharing with me; things such as the design and quality details of his gutter system, installation procedures, and options, and so much more. “I’m just buying gutters”, I thought to myself, “not a house”.

Anyway, he turned out to be very knowledgeable and helpful with all the preliminary questions I had for hi-sharing with me useful information that I hadn’t thought about before. He also let me pick his brain on some other home improvements I had for him.

I liked the man and I liked his company. Before I knew it, his team was out there bright and early on the job installing my new gutters. I made a few special requests of his team while they were on the job and they were more than happy to oblige. And when I pestered them with questions as they were installing, they were friendly and helpful.

Everything went really smooth. The next time I turned to look, they were finished and gone! Not a mark on my lawn and no scrap or trash laying around!

Now check this out! A few days after the job was completed, I noticed some sharp metal burrs at the bottom end of the downspout and I was a little worried that my children would cut themselves if they accidentally rubbed against it while they played outside. A Capital Improvement team was dispatched immediately after I called them about it and they removed the burrs no problem.

Can’t ask for better service!”

Marvin & Bonnie Montgomery of Baton Rouge, 5/03: “I am writing this letter to you in my capacity as a private individual, rather than in my capacity as general counsel for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry. Because you have just completed the remodeling of my home, you have asked for my opinion as to the quality of work and the products and the professionalism of your employees. Your request shows bravery on your part because attorneys can be demanding and opinionated. To tell you the truth, after thirty years as an attorney, I have learned to be somewhat skeptical of sales claims. I have to admit that what you said you would deliver you did, in fact, deliver. I have no reservation about using you, your company or your products I the future, or in referring anyone to you.

The point I would like to emphasis most is the honesty and integrity that you and your employees displayed during the remodeling. At the beginning of the process you made a mistake. It was an honest mistake, but a serious one, nonetheless. You admitted the mistake and took steps to correct it. We all make mistakes, but not everyone is willing to admit to a mistake and correct it. To me, your action in doing so shows both integrity on your part and that you can be trusted.

You sent three crews out to the house, one to install the windows, one to install the siding and one to install the gutters. All three crews were professional, efficient and did excellent work. More importantly, they were polite, courteous and willing to listen to and consult my wife. I would especially commend your sales rep. and his men, which is the crew that put up the siding. Unfortunately I did not meet the other two crews because of my work schedule, but my wife has nothing but praise for all three crews. Another incident of integrity occurred when the “gutter” crew arrived. The color of the gutters they brought with them did not match the colors of the siding or the trim. The foreman, said that it was not a problem for them to come back later with gutters that matched the colors of the house. The consistency that your crews displayed in trying to make sure that we were happy with the results says a lot about you and your company.

As I have mentioned earlier, the quality of the work by all three crews is excellent, especially considering the condition the house was in when they started. I was impressed by the fact that the crews were willing to hang new doors, lights and fans that we did not purchase from your company as part of the service. They did and excellent job.

The quality of the product is also excellent. The windows that we chose have totally delighted us. I never thought that I would find windows delightful, but I do. I highly recommend the windows that we bought. They are better than anything else I was able to find on the market, and I did look at a lot of windows. Frankly, I was surprised with the insulation that you used under the siding. I expected a house wrap type of insulation. Instead, you used thick insulating sheets. Lastly, the siding and trim were of quality that I had not found in any other siding. Again I had looked at lots of brands of siding before choosing yours. I would not hesitate to choose it again.

In closing, you have transformed a down at the heels house that stuck out like a sore thumb into a house that blends in with the property so well that the house looks like it has always been there. You created something that I did not expect, a harmony between the house and the property that makes a house a home.

Patricia Armatis of Metairie, 8/01: "We have lived in our home in Metairie for over 15 years. During that time, we have scheduled a number of repairs/renovations. Capital Improvement arrived on time! – to replace the windows, and then managed to further dispel the (bad) stereotype by finishing 30 minutes early!

Not only that, the job was professionally done, the installers were careful to minimize flying "dirt" and they managed to maintain a pleasant attitude despite the summer heat. When the windows were installed they cleaned up all leftover materials, removed the old windows, vacuumed the areas in which they worked and left smiling a half hour ahead of schedule. Not your typical renovation experience!

As for the windows themselves, they withstood the first pounding New Orleans thunderstorm without a leak and seem to have reduced heat transfer to the rooms inside. They do operate a bit stiffly, but I do no care to A/C the outside (by opening and closing these windows) to give them the necessary "workout".

I recommend your company to anyone needing replacement windows."
